Artemis Weight Management Dog Food Review

Artemis Weight Management Dog Food is decent quality dog food formula. This formula has a good balance between grains and meat. While this formula is not a entirely grainless formula, we feel that the grains it does use are of good quality.

First Five Ingredients:

Artemis Weight Management Dog Food First Five Ingredients Analysis:

  1. Rice
  2. Chicken Meal
  3. Chicken
  4. Turkey
  5. Barley

Chicken is the first ingredient and is inclusive of its water content. This means that once this ingredient is cooked and turned into a dry ingredient it will have lost most of its water content, thus making it fall further in the ingredients list.

Turkey is the second ingredient and is also inclusive of its water content.

Pearled Barley is a grain and of decently quality. Barley is an excellent source of carbohydrates and provides additional plant protein.

This is one of the best, most meat-filled, non grain-free weight control foods I’ve ever seen! Most weight control foods start with a whole named meat protein (like “chicken”) followed by 4 grain sources, then chicken meal as the real meat content. This food actually has more meat than grain, thus help the dog eat a more natural diet without being carb-loaded for an adverse effect on weight loss.

This is confusing. I saw on Artemis web site this Weight Management product and it listed “rice” as the first ingredients. But on this site it listed “chicken”? Why this discrepancy?
