Artemis Fresh Mix Adult Dog Food
Review
Artemis Fresh Mix Adult Dog Food is decent quality dog food formula. This formula has a good balance between grains and meat. While this formula is not a entirely grain free formula, the grains used in this product are of high quality.
Artemis Fresh Mix Adult Dog Food: First Five Ingredients Analysis:
- Chicken
- Chicken meal
- Turkey
- Cracked Pearled Barley
- Whole Grain Brown Rice.
Chicken is the first ingredient and is inclusive of its water content. This means that once this ingredient is cooked and turned into a dry ingredient it will have lost most of its water content, thus making it fall further in the ingredients list.
Chicken Meal is the second ingredient helping boost the overall protein content of this food.
Turkey is the third ingredient and is inclusive of its water content.
Pearled Barley and Brown Rice are considered quality ingredients. They are both excellent sources of carbohydrates, and provide additioanl plant protein.

We have walked a long way until we found Artemis Food. We have a male chocolate labrador retriever (4 1/2 years old) and a female black labrador retriever (1 year old). The chocolate lab used to have Purina PMI when he was a puppy, and he was fine. When he was 1 year old we changed to Purina PMI adult formula and he was ok until the brand change their name to Red Flannel. That’s when his seizures problems started (although at that time we didn’t know it was the food). Fortunately the seizures weren’t that often, he had like 6 in a year and a half. When he was around 2 1/2 we changed to Diamond food, but it gave him a lot of gas. When we got our female lab, our male lab was 3 years old. At that time we found Exclusive from Purina, which worked good for both dogs. With this food change, our male lab’s seizures stopped. Then we knew it was the food. We kept doing Exclusive, but the Adult Formula when our female lab god diarreah, we thought it was the change of food, but it seems both dogs didn’t like the new food that much. Then I did a lot of research and found Artemis food. We tried the Adult Fresh Mix Formula with great results! The love it! They haven’t had any issues with the change! They feel great and their coats are beautiful! It is a great product! I highly recommend it!!!
I changed my puppy to this because he kept having intestinal problems with Iams, Iams vet formula and Natural balance. We started a gradual switch but once he was solely on the Artemis he stopped having intestinal problems. No more mucus in his stools. He also like the taste.
Good choice,, and it is the best thing you could HAVE done for your dog. lams is one of the worst dog foods made today.
Where can I buy Artemis dog food (fresh-mix-adult) in Florida (not on line)
I have a 10 plus year old English Bulldog. When he was young I feed him “grocery store” dog food, like Purina One. I assumed it was good, name brand food. My Bulldog had skin allergies which caused him to rub the hair off of his sides. A friend of mine informed me that all of the dog food sold in stores was junk. My vet recommended changing to Artemis Spring mix and Toby has been eating this food for many years. His allergies and bald spots went away and he is an unusually healthy dog for his age and breed. I really believe this food has helped keep him healthy.
My current dilemma: I have a 9 month old American Mastiff and the breeder uses and recommends Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy food. This food is rated better than the ”grocery
store brands, but is very poor according to several ratings I have seen. My breeder says that Eukanuba is the only company that has done actual long term, real world tests on their food and she recommends the Large Breed Puppy for the first two years. I will say that Molly, the mastiff, has not had the problems that some others have had with soft stool, gas, etc. and it growing at a healthy rate. I hate to go through a switch and perhaps have to deal with diarreha etc. The first two years are critical for these giant breeds, especially concerning bone development. Is it possible that a food that is “too good” could cause too rapid a growth rate and later joint problems?
Hello…I am planning to try Artemis dog food for my 2 year old Boxer if I am able to find it to purchase where I live. My first Boxer, Oscar, was fed Royal Canin Boxer Breed specific dog food. The PetSmart vet recommended this food product so I followed his advice. After three years of eating this dog food…my dog developed kidney failure. He died at age 5 years which broke our hearts! I was purchasing what I thought was the very best for my dog…I cannot prove it of course…but, after the fact…I’ve learned that there is dried beets added as a filler in this product which can lead to serious kidney problems in large breed dogs. AVOID this food!!!///I am currently feeding my dog Blue Adult large breed chicken(orange bag). I am continually searching for the absolute best hollistic dog food possible!
We have been using Artemis for over a year with our two medium sized dogs. Never had a problem until this month. Our dogs all of a sudden were not interested in eating, had horrible gas and started getting very itchy. When we took them in to the groomer, she told us that Artemis had recently changed formulas and she had been hearing many complaints. I have not found any proof on the web to corroborate her claim. Has anyone else heard this? We are changing to Canadae Grain Free formula. Today they ate all the Canadae and seemed to really like it. Time will tell if this was a good idea.
