Acana Puppy Junior Dog Food Review

As with all dog food recipes the first thing we are going to look at are the first five ingredients. The first five ingredients are a good indication of the quality of the dog food. When looking at the first five ingredients you want to make sure there is plenty of meat and grains are minimal.

Acana Puppy Junior First Five Ingredients Review:

  1. Chicken meal
  2. steamed oatmeal
  3. Fresh Free-Run Chicken
  4. Peas
  5. Chicken Fat

Chicken Meal is the first ingredient and is a named meat ingredient. A dog’s diet needs to based on the fact that dogs need meat and protein that derives from meat.

Steamed Oats are going to be the main sources of grains this this recipe. Oats are of a decent quality.

Chicken is the third ingredient in this recipe. This ingredient is inclusive of its water content. Meaning that once the water is removed and this ingredients becomes a dried ingredient it will weigh significantly less, thus making it fall further in the ingredients list.

Peas are the fourth ingredient and are an excellent source of plant protein.

Chicken Fat is going to be the main source of fat. It’s safe to say that the ingredients before this ingredient are going to make up the majority of the dog food. This is a decent quality ingredient. You want to stay away from unidentified fat sources such as, “Animal Fat”

I would like to know what age dog and breed this food is recommended for? I have a pug age 5 months old. I really would like a Lamb & Rice. Do you carry that.

  2. Henri Labelle says:

This food is of excellent quality. It is considered 4 stars out of 6 on Dog Food Reviews website.

I bought a bag for my new Shiba Inu. It don’t seems to like it… very hard for me to get him eat it :( I’ll try to convince my dog for a few days but I’m thinking of bringing back the bag to the store to try a new food.

  3. Ami says:

My dog loves Acana. He licks it clean. He is on the puppy version of the food. We were feeding him Orijen but he was having a hard time pooping, too much meat. This one is much better.
