Abady State of The Art Formula for Growing Puppies of The Larger Breeds Review
Abady State of The Art Formula for Growing Puppies of The Larger Breeds is lower quality dog food. This formula contains some lower quality ingredients that we prefer not to see in dog food. The meat in this formula is abundant, but comes from unidentified origins.
Abady State of The Art Form. for Growing Puppies of The Larger Breeds First Five Analysis:
- Chicken Meal
- White Rice
- Menhaden Fish Meal (Select Grade)
- Chicken By-Products Meal
- Beef Meat & Bone Meal
The first ingredient Chicken Meal is a named meat ingredient. This ingredient combined with the third ingredient Menhaden Fish Meal are your main sources of qaulity meat and protein.
The second ingredient, White rice is a decent quality grain.
The fourth ingredient Chicken By-Product can either be a good ingredient, or a horrible ingredient. When a manufacture explains in detail what is included in their By-Product it may be considered a good ingredient, if obviously good ingredients are used. In this case there is no explanation of the quality of ingredients, therefore we must assume that they are lower quality ingredients. Chicken By-Products are the lower quality parts of the Chicken that are rejected from human consumption.
Beef and Bone Meal is a lower quality meat and is defined as: “the rendered product from mammal tissues, including bone, exclusive of blood, hair, hoof, horn, hide trimmings, manure, stomach and rumen contents, except in such amounts as may occur unavoidably in good processing practices.”

Abady State Art Formula for Growing Puppies of Larger Breeds final thoughts:
We feel that this formula does not meet our standards of a qaulity dog food brand. I would not recommend this dog food brand. IF, the company disclosed what is in their Chicken By-Products it would make this a better choice of dog food.

This is a very odd food, it has some very good ingredients mixed with some very low-quality ingredients. By-products aren’t a good quality source of protein unless the manufacturer is willing to disclose what’s in it. Since no by-products are human-grade, we can assume that no matter what it is, it’s probably not that great. White rice is a decent grain, but whole brown rice is much better. The only thing that would inerest me in this food is its abnormally high linoleic acid (omega 6 fatty acids) content. I’d still be very hesitant to use this food, so I would not recommend it.
Abady is not a food I’d give to my dogs.
Years ago, I bought a top-of-the-line (bloodline-wise) puppy and ‘had’ to buy 60# of Abady with him. The pup was way too thin and refused his food (Abady and cooked ground beef) as in the diet sent by his breeder. I tried my other dogs on a little of the Abady and they immediately dialed the Dog Abuse Hotline.
I put the pup on Canidae which he devoured. I dumped the $120 worth of Abady at the far end of my pasture, in case any starving ‘critter’ needed food and it sat there FOR YEARS, forming a concrete-like mound. I had to chop it up with a pitchfork and rake and spread it around before it finally biodegraded. NOTHING would eat it and my area abounds in raccoons who will eat anything. Except Abady.
True story.
I have been breeding & showing dogs for 33 years and feeding the Abady formulas for over 27 years and in that time I have had only one puppy (from another breeder)that did not do well on it. I am intimately acquainted with the indgedients and thier sources and they are immaculate. My dogs are always in superb condidtion, they go to the vet only for health testing & rabies vaccinations, whelp good sized litters of healthy pups and live to a respectable age. I would not feed my Rhodesian Ridgbacks any other food (well, except for occaisional yummy people food snacks).
So you think this is good food?? Do you really know what Menhaden Fish Meal is ? And do you realize it is preserved with Ethoxyquin ?? I am sure you do..And I am sure you really know what Chicken By-Products Meal is?? Right?? You really wanna tell me why Beef Meat & Bone Meal is good for you dog??? And with your great knowledge you feel that Pork Fat is good for dogs??? And of course you believe every dog should eat more fat in Lamb Fat??? You also believe dogs should eat Menhaden Fish Fat even though menhaden fish is not used for human consuption, so the fat must be extra good for dogs??? Of course you believe that all dogs should eat a poision like Menadione Sodium bisulfite!!!
YEP,,, ANOTHER PERSON WHO KNOWS ABSOLUTLY NOTHING ABOUT DOG FOOD..
Melissa Carlin, you know if you take Dicalcium phosphate out of the ingredient list your dog would stink like a big bucket of FAT. Notice the last sentence, is your dog a pig????
Dicalcium phosphate is mainly used as a dietary supplement in prepared breakfast cereals, dog treats, enriched flour, and noodle products. It is also used as a tableting agent in some pharmaceutical preparations, including some products meant to eliminate body odor. It is used in poultry feed.
