Abady Classic Formula for Maintenance and Stress Review

Abady Classic Formula for Maintenance & Stress is lower quality dog food. This formula contains some lower quality ingredients that we prefer not to see in dog food. The meat in this formula is abundant, but comes from unidentified origins.

Abady Classic Formula for Maintenance and Stress First Five Ingredients Analysis:

  1. Chicken By-Products Meal
  2. White Rice
  3. Menhaden Fish Meal
  4. Lard
  5. Safflower Oil

Chicken By-Products is the first ingredient. When this ingredient is used, we prefer that the manufacture properly identify what exactly is being used. Most of the time Chicken By-Products are a lower quality source of meat that comes from the unusable parts of a chicken that are rejected from human consumption.

White Rice is the second ingredient and is the main grain source of this food. White Rice is classified as a decently quality grain.

Menhaden Fish Meal is the third ingredient and makes up most of the meat content. As with all fish products we look for a statement stating the use of ethoxyquin free ingredients but failed to find one. This ingredient is going to also make up a good portion of the protein.

The fourth ingredient Lard is a lower quality fat ingredient that we prefer not used in dog food. Fat ingredients are an essential part of a dogs diet, but we feel that there are better sources of fat.

Safflower Oil is the fifth ingredient and is a highly unsaturated oil extracted from safflower seeds excellent for the skin and coat.

Abady Maintenance/Stress and Growth Formula for Adults Final Thoughts:

We feel that this formula does not meet our standards of a qaulity dog food brand. I would not recommend this dog food brand. IF, the company disclosed what is in their Chicken By-Products it would make this a better choice of dog food.

For the last 6 months I have been using Abady Stress & Maintenance for my 2 dogs, a Rottweiler and an Aussie mix. Prior to trying Abady, I’ve fed EVO, Now, Canine Caviar, Taste of the Wild and also tried a complete Raw Diet. My Rottie had constant diarrhea and the Aussie had soft stools. I had them checked for worms, intestinal parasites, blood work and even x-rays to see if there was something seriously wrong with them. They were always on Flagyl or pumpkin added to their foods just to maintain.
A pet nutritionist recommended that I try Abady. Initially I wasn’t too keen on the ingredients but needed to do something for my dogs. Within 2 weeks both of my dogs were having normal stools, after a month I noticed their coats were shinier than ever. My Rottie is training for French Ring Sports, Scent Detection and recently earned a “V” rating at the Rottweiler Nationals and is thriving on this food.
I am not a a nutritionist but I can definitely claim that this is the best food for my dogs. Also, ABADY recently changed their first ingredient from Chicken by-products to Chicken Meal, which made me very happy.
Hopefully you will give this food another look. Either way, until I see a problem with my dogs, I will continue to feed Abady.
    Thanks for your informative website!
    Terry

Terry Berns, I am a not a nutritionist, but I have done years of dog food research and I can say that this is one of the worst dog foods made today. AND THEY STILL USE CHICKEN-BY-PRODUCT MEAL!!!. I was just on their lieing website…. They only use Chicken meal in the puppy formula.
