4Health Chicken and Rice Formula for Adults Ingredient Analysis

1. Chicken

2. Chicken Meal

3. Cracked Pearled Barley

4. Millet

5. Brewers Rice

Chicken is a lean meat that’s high in protein. The problem is that fresh chicken is made of roughly 80% water. When it’s cooked down to be added to a dry food, this water evaporates so, although it’s listed as the main ingredient in this food, the cooked amount would equate to a smaller proportion of the finished product.

Chicken meal is essentially a concentrated form of chicken, which is probably used to make up for the amount of water lost from the fresh chicken.

Barley is a starch-heavy carbohydrate which is used to bulk out the food, but also contains useful nutrients for your pooch. It’s high in fiber but has a low glycemic index, which means it can help your dog to maintain more stable levels of blood sugar.

Millet is a gluten-free grain, so it’s good if you want to lower the amount of gluten you feed to your dog. It contains plenty of fiber, as well as being high in a number of B-vitamins and minerals such as magnesium and phosphorus.

Brewers rice is a byproduct of the rice industry, composed of small rice fragments left over from the milling process. While it does add some extra calories to the food, it has little nutritional value to speak of.
